LAUNCHING INTO LEARNING – (LIL)

Our school offers programs for families with children from 0–4. These programs provide the foundations to prepare children for a successful life at school.  Parents and children are supported through the LiL program to learn and have fun together.  Our LiL co-ordinator is Ms Field and the following programs. Please contact the school in regards to programs offered this year.

Learning in Families Together (LIFT) is an initiative we offer at Herdsmans Cove Primary School that will build your confidence and skills to support your children’s literacy and numeracy learning at home. It will encourage collaboration between home, school and the community to help lift the literacy and numeracy learning outcomes for all children.

Being actively engaged in your children’s learning can impact significantly on increasing the learning outcomes for your child.

Activities and fun learning opportunities will be provided throughout the school year for children in Kindergarten through to Year 2.

  • Positive behaviour is taught explicitly to our students to help them to exercise appropriate social skills and display characteristics which will enable them to contribute to their community. Meet and Greet sessions occur at identified times across the week each morning. During these sessions socials skills are explicitly taught and modelled. These sessions also provide the opportunity to: build relationships; encourage team work and collaboration; promote a positive and respectful culture, and promote positive behaviour. Our social skills program is supported by explicit prompt language. E,g. “Prove you can move”. “Hands and feet to self”.

  • Students earn value shields for demonstrating school values

  • All of which encourage students to Be Our Best.  More information is available in our Respectful Schools Document.
