Approaching the Halfway Point in the Year
Dear Families,
As we approach the halfway point of the year, we have some exciting updates and important reminders to share with you.
New Footy Goals and Oval Fencing
We are thrilled to announce that our new footy goals have arrived! We can't wait to get them set up on the oval. You may have also noticed our new oval fencing, which will help keep our grounds safe and secure.
Early Pick-Up Reminder
If you need to pick up your child early, please remember to come to the front office. This helps us ensure the safety and security of all students.
Exciting New Thursday Activity
Next term, we will be introducing a new Thursday activity that our classes will cycle through. During this time, students will have the opportunity to create some artwork and cook a pizza in our new oven. Families will be invited to join us for a meal or take the pizza home to share. We look forward to seeing the wonderful creations and enjoying some delicious pizza together!
Bike Helmet Safety
A reminder to all students: if you ride your bike to school, you must wear a helmet. If students do not wear helmets, they will not be allowed to bring their bikes to school. This is for everyone's safety, and if the situation does not improve, it may lead to a school-wide ban on bikes.
Thank you for your cooperation and support. We look forward to a fantastic second half of the year!
Warm regards,
Tobin McColl

Group Timetable is below.
If your child has not returned their form please ensure it's completed and returned promptly to the office.
3/4 Peebles have started a new science unit focused on living things. The unit began by first describing what students already knew and what they were wanting to learn about living things. Students then had a go at identifying things as living or non-living before discussing what actually makes something a ‘living thing’.
3/4 Peebles have since worked on creating Triorama’s. This began by choosing a living thing as a focus, before reading about four features of all living things and how they relate to our chosen topic. Students then wrote this in a few sentences and added this to their piece.
On Monday June 2nd 36 students set off to Bayview Secondary College to compete in the Interschool Cross Country Carnival.
All students demonstrated positive sportsmanship, courage, and resilience. It was such a pleasure to watch them push themselves and support each other throughout the races.
A big thank you to Kim, Dj and Abbey for helping on the day. Another big thank you to the families that came to support us and to everyone who was behind the scenes organising (Miss P).
We came out with Second place overall. A fantastic achievement by everyone.

In Children's University students have been observing the current weather and decided to do some seasons artwork.

In Lil our little learners have enjoyed the start of Winter. There was snowman building, an icy bug rescue and hot chocolate to enjoy.

The champions cross country was held Tuesday 17th June at Symmons Plains. Students that participated in the event did a fantastic job of running, jogging or walking the course. All students supported each other.
Well done to Shayla, Zyron, Dakotah, Chaise, Chloe, Sylah and Izabella!
You all did an amazing job of encouraging each other and representing Herdsmans Cove Primary.

In 3/4A as part of our daily UFLI phonics program we have been learning lots of new spelling patterns. This term we have been focusing on how to spell the different vowel sounds. Each week we practice the different ways we know how to spell certain sounds and write them on our whiteboards. The students love getting to show off their work to other classes and teachers. We are also trying fun new ways to practice our spelling. One of these is writing our words in liquid chalk on the windows. The students have been enjoying trying new ways to write their words.

In our cooking groups rice bubble and oat biscuits have been made. Students measured, followed methods and wrote up their recipes for others to follow.

At Herdsmans Cove our new logo school jumper has been popular among students. These jumpers are $35.00 and can be purchased at the school office.
There is another order arriving soon as these jumpers have been selling fast.
If you would like assistance with the purchasing of any school uniform items please do not hesitate to see Jess our social worker or staff in the office.
