Dear Families,
It has been an exciting and busy term with class teachers providing outstanding opportunities to learn through class programs and experiences.
We already have next term in our sights and have commenced planning for Term 4 programs and events. We can look forward to the Primary Swimming Splash Carnival, the Inter School Swimming Carnival, a Government House excursion for some of our Kitchen/Garden students and of course our Celebration Assemblies and Grade 6 Celebrations.
Over the year our SRC students have demonstrated fantastic global citizenship qualities and future focused thinking, as they have met and worked with local community groups in regards to recycling, environmental concerns and with ways to help our community. Last week our SRC students met with the Brighton Council to discuss ways of improving our school recycling program. Thank you to Summer, Ayesha, Isabella, Ryan, Jett, Riley and Sophie for being such fantastic ambassadors for our school.
Term 3 finishes this Friday 24 September and students return to school on Monday 11 October. We wish all students and families a safe and happy holiday.
Carolyn Brown, Principal
In 3/4M we have been busy working on narrative writing and creating some really cool stories. We have worked together to investigate what is needed to make a really great piece of writing, and ways that we might be able to make some improvements. The students came up with some things to remember when writing to make sure their story captures the reader's attention.
"We need to make sure we have a strong character role."- Heidi.
"It needs to have a hook! We need to make sure our reader never wants to put our story down."- Jett.
"Don't forget to include as much description as you can as we need the reader to be able to imagine that they are in our story."- Summer.
"Remember your theme! The reader needs to know what kind of story they are getting themselves into." -Isabella.
We then went on to look at how we edit our writing and fixing it up to make sure it is perfect. Keep an eye out for when we finish our great stories - we can't wait to bring them home for everyone to read.
Chef's Table Creation - JRLF Senior School
Our winning Masterchef team from grade 6 got to celebrate their win at the JRLF Senior School being served a Paddock to Plate lunch as their prize. Congratulations team, your curried sausages and apple crumble scored the most points overall and took out first prize in a close contest.
Last Thursday we were very lucky to have Vlad from Mona visit our school to cook with a group of students. Students and staff were very happy to get treated to a special morning tea and lunch. Thank you so much Vlad for spending the day at our school.
