Dear Families
We certainly have a busy few weeks ahead of us. We will be holding our Primary Athletics Carnival on Thursday 4 March for our Grade 3 – 6 students. On the day, visiting parents are welcome from 11.20 a.m. onwards, for a prompt start at 11.30 a.m.
Our fantastic Physical Education teachers, Mr Milne and Mr Wishart have been busy this past week developing the program and organising the event, and Mr Bennett has been working hard to prepare the grounds. The carnival supports us to select students to participate in the SPSSA Interschool Athletics Carnival which will be held at the Domain Athletics Centre on Wednesday 10 March. We will also be hosting an Early Years, Kindergarten to Grade 2 Easter Celebration Carnival on Wednesday 31 March. We are looking forward to seeing our wonderful parents at these events.
Please be mindful that we are still required to follow health requirements for hosting events, which include signing in and physical distancing. Let’s keep our fingers crossed that the sun continues to shine and we have fantastic weather.
Last week we held elections for student leadership opportunities in our school including our Student Representative Council and House Captains for sporting events and carnivals. Students made us feel ever so proud as they prepared and presented great speeches to staff and students.
Congratulations to the following students:

Kitchen/Garden Sustainability Program
All students from Prep-Grade 6 classes have been working in the garden and classroom with Mrs Anning in this year's Kitchen/Garden Sustainability program.
The program aims at connecting students to real life learning around sustainable practices and the environment. The students work through how the environment provides us with the things we need to survive and how we can use the environment to benefit our lives. Our students will learn the full life cycle of plants from planting seedlings, growing plants, harvesting and using these plants to cook nutritious meals. We are very excited for the learning our students are doing and sharing with our community.
Important Reminder for Parents
Please remember to come to the office before signing children out from school. All people collecting students from school should be listed on the contact list for your child. If alternative arrangements are to be made for the end of day pick-ups please inform the office.
A SPECIAL REMINDER TO PLEASE MAKE SURE YOUR CHILD KNOWS IN THE MORNING HOW THEY WILL BE GETTING HOME IN THE AFTERNOON.
Our school day starts at 8.50 a.m. and finishes at 2.40 p.m. We encourage parents to make appointments outside of school hours when possible and TO ONLY COLLECT CHILDREN EARLY IF NECESSARY.
A number of students have been eating their full lunch box at recess time and asking for an extra sandwich at lunchtime. Please check with your child and if they are saying that they are still hungry please provide an extra sandwich.
This year's Fissure Sealant and Fluoride Varnish Program is being held at school from Monday 1 March through to Thursday 11 March. Thank you to parents of students in Kindergarten, Prep, Grades 1, 2, and 6 for providing permission and returning their completed dental forms. Please contact the office if you would like your child to receive this treatment but haven't completed the form and a new one can be sent home.
