Dear Families,
Can you believe it's already Week 6 of Term 2? Time flies when we're having fun and learning together! It's been fabulous to see our classes so settled and dedicated to their studies. The enthusiasm and commitment from our students have been truly inspiring.
Interschool Cross Country:
- The interschool cross country was a fabulous day for our students to demonstrate the value of courage. Our students headed to Bayview College in Rokeby and took on a challenging course! It was a fantastic school effort, with Herdsmans Cove coming second in the overall rankings. A big thank you to Miss Rossiter for supporting our students throughout the event.
Statewide Moderation Day:
- As much as we love our students, we’re sure everyone is looking forward to a long weekend! This Friday (6th of June) is Statewide Moderation Day. On this day, our teachers will be collaborating with colleagues from other schools to ensure consistency in assessment and to design meaningful next steps for student learning. And of course, Monday is the King’s Birthday, giving students a well-deserved four-day weekend.
Sharing Evidence of Learning and Reports:
- Our wonderful teachers have also been busy preparing Evidence of Learning to share with you. During Week 9 (date to be confirmed), we are inviting families to come and see your child’s progress—and to share a pizza with us! This is a fabulous opportunity to have an informal discussion with your child’s teacher so that we can all work together to improve learning and enjoyment at school. More details will be coming your way soon.
Friday Activities:
- Last week we wrapped up our first block of Friday Fun activities. These afternoons have been a great success, with students working hard during the week to earn their time in these sessions. It’s also a fabulous opportunity for students to build relationships with adults beyond their classroom teacher and to connect with peers from other grades. Students have now had the opportunity to opt into a new activity for the second block of Friday Fun for Term 2. We’re looking forward to seeing all the exciting things happening at Herdies on a Friday!
Swimming and Water Safety:
- A reminder that Swimming and Water Safety will be happening for our Grade 3-6 students in the last two weeks of term.
Thank you for your continued support. We look forward to seeing you soon!

Our annual whole school cross country was held at Tynwald Park on the 23rd March. Students showed courage as they walked, jogged or ran in the event. It was fantastic to see family and friends of our students braving the cold to come and cheer our students on.
Thankyou to Miss P and all of our wonderful staff members who helped to make this day a huge success.

This term 1/2H have been looking at fractured fairy tales. We have enjoyed reading and listening to a variety of fairy tales with a twist.
We are now writing and illustrating our own fractured fairy tales.

Our new school logo jumpers have arrived. With winter fast approaching these jumpers are perfect to wear to keep warm.
These jumpers are priced at $35.00 and can be purchased from the office. If you need assistance with uniforms please come and see our school social worker Jess.

Our little learners had a fantastic time visiting the Bridgewater Library. They read stories, sang songs and then enjoyed a play at the park.

Miss Rossiter's group for Friday Fun enjoyed an afternoon of decorating biscuits.

Anna Lee and Damon have been discovering insects in the garden. They sorted through leaves, dirt and found some caterpillars.

Kinder students thoroughly enjoyed sitting down together and eating their meatloaf and pasta salad.

Students from 1/2 Nicholas enjoyed making pancakes from scratch in the kitchen. Students measured the ingredients and followed instructions to make amazing, tasting pancakes.

Students in 5/6 Dowling have enjoyed participating in basketball clinic.
Students have learnt new skills and have brushed up on their old skills. It has been a fantastic way to keep active.

Just a reminder that Friday 6 June is a Student Free Day. Staff from Herdsmans Cove will be using this day for training and moderating with other teaching staff from surrounding schools.
