Dear Families,
Welcome to our final newsletter for 2024!
What a busy end to the term it has been, with two wonderful celebrations of learning and community, culminating in our final whole school assembly on Thursday and our whole school celebration excursion to the Clarence Pool and Simmons Park today. A heartfelt thank you to all the families who have been able to attend these events—we truly appreciate your continued support of our school community.
Looking Ahead to 2025
We are very excited to welcome new staff to Herdsmans Cove Primary School in 2025:
- Catherine Burgess will join us as an additional Assistant Principal for the Early Years. Catherine has been a valued member of the leadership teams at East Derwent Primary and more recently, Risdon Vale Primary.
- Caitlin Hamilton will join us as an Advanced Skills Teacher (AST), transitioning from Fairview Primary. Caitlin will focus on student support in the upper primary years.
- Joining us in teaching and support roles are Madison Smith, Sarsha Addison, Kimberley Peebles and a much-loved community favourite, Lily Barwick.
Farewells
At the end of this year, we say goodbye to several valued staff members:
- Ms Sophie Levett who is moving to Campania District School.
- Ms Bec Murray who will be joining Campbell Street Primary.
- Miss Stacey Lovell who is transitioning to the JRLF Senior School.
We thank them all for their incredible contributions to HCPS and wish them every success in their new roles and endeavours.
Holiday Wishes
We hope you have a safe and happy holiday season. Thank you for a fantastic year of learning, growth, and community spirit. We look forward to welcoming everyone back in early February for another exciting year at HCPS!
Warm regards,
Tobin McColl, Principal
On Tuesday our whole school celebrated a Fun Day at Clarence Swim Centre followed by a play and barbecue at Simmons Park. A wonderful day was had by all, supported by our amazing staff and teacher assistants. It was a great way to end the 2024 school year.
Big Day Out Celebration for Year 6
On Thursday last week our Grade 6 students celebrated their "Big Day Out" starting the morning with a small family breakfast held at school. Thank you to Mr Bennett for sharing his fabulous barbecue skills and prowess with the tongs! Students then left to watch a morning session of Moana 2 at the State Cinema in town, followed by lunch and a couple of games at Zone Bowling. We wish our leaving students all the best as they progress onto high school. A great day was had by all that attended. A special thank you to Miss Lovell and Miss Rossiter for organising the day.
Attendance Prize Christmas Hampers
Last Wednesday we had a fantastic Christmas dress-up day, where students were invited to dress in their favourite Christmas outfit and contribute to our end of year Attendance Christmas Hamper draw.
Thank you to families for donating goods and goodluck everyone!
