Book Week Celebration
Thank you to all the parents and guardians for your hard work in dressing your children in their fabulous Book Week costumes. We had a fantastic day and thoroughly enjoyed the celebration of reading and a love of books.
Student Progress
This week, I have had the pleasure of several students coming up to read their work or stories to me. I'm so thrilled to see and hear the progress they are making with their reading and writing. It gives me great confidence that the work we are doing with UFLI is setting our students up for lifelong success.
Upcoming Refurbishments
In Week 8, we will welcome the builders who will refurbish 5/6M with new walls and internal doors, creating an improved learning space suited to 21st-century learning. They will also begin work on the wall in our Child and Family Learning Centre and the new Kitchen Garden kitchen.
New Staff Introduction
We are excited to introduce some new members of our teaching team who will be starting with us next week: Ella Rossiter, Lauren Smith and Maggie Williams. We are thrilled to have them join us and look forward to the exciting contributions they will bring to our school. Hopefully I can announce the names of the Family Support Workers beginning in our CFLC outreach in our next newsletter.
Call for Mentors
We are looking for a mentor to work with some of our students. We have a number of bikes in need of repair and if you have the skills and would like to volunteer, please let us know. We will cover the cost of your Working with Vulnerable People check.
Teacher Assistant Appreciation Week
Next week is Teacher Assistant Appreciation Week. I would like to take this opportunity to wholeheartedly thank all of our wonderful TAs. Your commitment and care are greatly appreciated.
Thank you for your continued support.
Warm regards,
Tobin McColl, Principal
On Wednesday 21 August we held our annual Book Week Parade. It was wonderful to see so many students dressed in their favourite book character as well as so many parents attend on the day and put so much effort into their costumes.
3/4/5 Levett welcomed Constable Levett to our school on Tuesday last week. Constable Levett read Concrete Garden to the class for a Book Week treat and then spoke to the children about life as a Police Officer. The children particularly enjoyed looking through the police car and would like to thank Constable Levett for visiting our school.
Students went outside and made their own concrete garden for Book Week, unfortunately the rain came and washed their drawings away.
3/4/5 are also attending Bond Street each Thursday fortnight and have been enjoying tasting different food and taking part in clay and art activities.
Get ready to be amazed! Our students have been hard at work designing and decorating two wooden poles, blending their creative ideas into something truly special. As the project nears its final stages, we can't wait to share the finished displays with the whole school community. Here's a sneak preview of what's in store!
Winter Sports - Netball & Soccer
Well done to our students who displayed sportsmanship, respect, and teamwork while representing our school at the Winter Carnival on Tuesday, 20 August.
A special thank you to our parents for supporting both our netball and soccer teams on the day, and to Mrs Burn for managing the netball girls.
As a reminder to our parents, please note that if your child has asthma, the Department requires us to have an up-to-date Asthma Management Plan from your doctor on file.
Students with asthma must have their plan updated on a yearly basis.
Please contact the office if you require further information, thank you.
Some of our students are enjoying our weekly Art Therapy program with Miss Emma Roberts. This week students designed and painted their own masks and were very proud of their artwork.
