As the community is well aware, COVID-19 continues to circulate, and it is impacting our daily lives, including our school. We kindly request that if your child is unwell, please keep them at home. This precautionary measure is crucial to safeguard the health and well-being of our students and staff.
The recent rise in cases has also affected staffing levels at the school. We appreciate your understanding and support during these challenging times. Together, we can ensure a safe and healthy environment for everyone.
With the warmer weather upon us, we want to remind students to wear helmets when riding bikes or scooters to school. Safety is our top priority, and we encourage all students to set a positive example by following this important rule. Let's work together to make sure every journey to and from school is a safe one.
Thank you for your cooperation and commitment to the well-being of our school community. We appreciate your ongoing support and look forward to a successful second half of the last term.
Best regards,
Tobin McColl, Principal
Swimming & Water Safety Program
Last week students from Grades 3-5 and some selected Grade 6 students participated in the Swimming and Water Safety Swim program at Oceana. The Swimming and Water Safety Swim Program is a vital part of our student's education.
It was fantastic to see great attendance at these sessions. Students learnt how to float, retrieve things from the pool floor, signal for help when in trouble and learning how to push themselves through the water using specific strokes.
We would like to thank all parents and carers for their support of the program this year.
Check out some photos below of some fun at the pool.
On Monday 30 October our early years classes participated in the beach to bush program. Lifeguards from Carlton Park and Clifton Beach taught us to swim between the flags, how to ask a lifeguard for help at the beach and how to prepare for a day in the sun. Our students were happy to participate in a pretend rescue and even try on some of the lifeguard uniforms! We hope that this prepares our students for a safe and sun-filled summer.
Inter School Swimming Carnival
On Friday 10 November Herdsmans Cove sent a team of swimmers to compete in the inter school swimming carnival at the Hobart Aquatic Centre. Students had a great time and did their very best in all their events. Some students went in extra races on the day and it was great to see everyone supporting each other. Congratulations to all students on your efforts and fantastic participation.
Our swimming team were fantastic representatives of the school and it was wonderful to have so much support from the community (parents, guardians, family and friends).
All students that participated received a ribbon.
Herdsmans Cove Primary placed 5th overall in the carnival.
