Dear Herdsmans Cove Primary Community,
As we bid farewell to another exciting and eventful term, it's time to reflect on the incredible journey of learning and growth we've embarked upon together. With enthusiasm, we welcome you to the final newsletter of the term, filled with gratitude, excitement and anticipation for what lies ahead.
Embracing the Excitement of Learning
This term has been nothing short of extraordinary. Our students have shown unwavering determination and resilience in the face of challenges, and their commitment to learning has been truly inspiring. From the classrooms to the playgrounds, the passion for knowledge and personal development has shone brightly.
We extend our heartfelt appreciation to our dedicated teachers, staff and parents who have played an invaluable role in nurturing our students' curiosity and fostering their love for learning. It is through your combined efforts that we've been able to create such a vibrant and nurturing educational environment.
Welcome Kate Harrison - Our New Quality Teaching Coach
We are thrilled to introduce a new member of our HCPS teaching team, Kate Harrison, who joins us as our Quality Teaching Coach. Kate brings a wealth of experience and expertise to our school community, and we are excited about the fresh perspectives and innovative ideas she will bring to further enhance the quality of teaching and learning at our school.
Kate will be instrumental in supporting our teachers in their professional development, ensuring that they have the tools and strategies necessary to continue providing an exceptional education for our students. Please join us in giving Kate a warm and enthusiastic welcome.
A Time to Unwind
As we prepare to break for the holidays, we want to remind everyone of the importance of taking time to relax and rejuvenate. The past term has been filled with hard work and achievement, and now is the perfect opportunity to rest, spend time with loved ones, and recharge for the term ahead.
We hope you find moments of joy, peace, and adventure during the break, whether you're exploring new places, indulging in your favourite hobbies, or simply enjoying time with family. Remember to stay safe and take care of yourselves and your loved ones.
AFL Grand Final – A Celebration of Sport
As the AFL Grand Final approaches, we encourage everyone to embrace the excitement of this iconic Australian sporting event. Whether you're cheering for your favourite team or just enjoying the camaraderie of the game, let's relish this opportunity to come together as a community and celebrate the spirit of sport. This Friday our students are encouraged to wear footy colours for the last day of term to get into the spirit of the AFL Grand Final.
Congratulations to Last Week's Principal Award Recipients
See You All Next Term!
As we conclude this term, we eagerly anticipate the start of the next. The journey of learning is a continuous one, and we look forward to embarking on it anew with all our students, parents, and staff. Together, we will continue to make Herdsmans Cove a place where curiosity thrives, knowledge grows, and dreams take flight.
In closing, we wish you a safe, joyful, and restful holiday. May you return refreshed and ready to embrace the opportunities and challenges of the next term with enthusiasm and determination.
Thank you for being an integral part of our school community. We are immensely proud of all that we've achieved together this term, and we can't wait to see what the future holds.
Warm regards,
Tobin McColl, Principal
Both 5/6 classes have enjoyed learning about the long tradition of basket weaving with Aboriginal worker Nat. Students have learnt about the history of basket weaving and have had a chance to learn how to weave themselves. Basket weaving can be done by using numerous materials and using skills such as sewing and weaving.
Our new SMS messaging system went live on Monday 25 September. Initially we are using this messaging system when your child is away with an unexplained absence. This message is sent to prompt you to contact the school regarding your child's absence, either via text message or 'phone call to the school.
Mobile messaging represents a significant step forward for the school in terms of how we communicate with parents to address absences and a useful tool which we hope parents will use to notify the school in advance of absences. It is intended that down the track we will also use this messaging system to deliver important announcements / reminders and messages regarding school events, etc.
Like any new system, I’m sure we will experience some initial teething issues, however I encourage you to persevere and use the system whenever possible and appropriate.
We expect the benefits, in time, efficiency and cost savings will be signficant and would like to hank you for your co-operation in making this change a success.
We would like to warmly welcome Mr Jacob Howard who has recently won an Advanced Skills Teacher position at Herdsmans Cove. Mr Howard is presently sharing the 4/5 teacher role with Ms Field, so if you see him around the school please say hello.
Mr Howard has come to us from East Derwent Primary School and has worked in the local community for a number of years. He is enjoying getting to know the staff, students and families.
