Dear Families,
The past few weeks have flown by and it's hard to believe that it’s the end of the term.
It’s been an exciting and busy last few weeks with preparation for Book Week and work being undertaken in the library to revitalise and create a vibrant and inviting space. Thank you Mr Milne, Mrs McKenzie and Mr Bennett for making our library look absolutely fabulous.
Last week we held our Book Fair. Mrs Mckenzie and her fantastic team of helpers were there each morning and afternoon for parents to visit and see the books that their children would love to own. Many students were very lucky and went home with one or more books. Your incredible support has enabled us to purchase some new books for our Library. Thank you for your amazing generosity.
Mrs Riley and Mrs McKenzie also created a stunning display in the library to celebrate Book Week. Mrs Bellette would be exceptionally proud of your wonderful display.
Last Friday we held our annual Book Week Parade. We were highly impressed with the number of entries and the inventiveness, and creativity of many of the costumes. Nearly all the students and staff in our school dressed up as a book character and many of them brought the book along for the parade. Our judges, Ms Burn, Ms Jones and Miss Kerlinda Lee Gallagher-Young had the unenviable task of choosing the winners. There were times when the judges had to award two prizes to a class, as they just could not make a decision such was the quality of the entrants costumes. The standard of the teacher’s costumes this year was also extremely high with all teachers going the extra mile to create amazing costumes. Our wonderful Mrs McKenzie has uploaded the amazing photos of the event on the screen just inside the front door. Don’t forget to have a look! There is also a selection of photos included in this newsletter. A big thank you to Mr Milne for co-ordinating the event.
Have a safe and happy holiday!
Thank you for your ongoing support.

Hello everyone,
What an amazing couple of weeks we have had at Herdsmans Cove Primary School. A huge shout out and thank you must go to our community and you as parents/guardians for supporting our BOOK FAIR. Our students absolutely loved looking through all the books, pens and posters and creating their own wish lists and we hope they had even more fun reading them back at home.
We also want to celebrate our amazing book parade that occurred on Friday. We had superhero’s saving us in the playground, lots of wizards casting happy spells, some nursery rhymes singing to everyone and some famous movie stars signing autographs. Overall, our community did a wonderful job creating a place of wonder and imagination.
Before I wish you a happy holiday, I want to let you know that our teachers have spent a lot of their time lately assessing students reading and writing. We have seen some real growth in these areas and if you wanted to know how your child is going then please make a time to speak to your child’s teacher or me.
Have a wonderful break,
Mr Milne
We also had so much fun creating our curious creatures for book week. They are seriously cute!
In 3/4 Meissner, we have been working really hard the last few weeks with a focus on Maths and Science. In Maths we have been measuring different objects using weight, capacity and volume. In Science we have been continuing on with our focus of changing states. We thought it would be a GREAT idea to combine the two - so what better way to do so than making choc chip pancakes. We worked in small groups and combined what we had learnt and transferred it into measuring, mixing, cooking, and of course - taste testing. Some of the lucky staff here at Herdys also got to taste our pancakes. Don't they look delicious!!! It isn't all just cooking here though, shortly after our time in the 3/4 kitchen, we put our knowledge to paper and reported, inquired AND questioned everything we had learnt over the term.
Thank you to our school community for supporting our canteen and ordering so many lunches throughout this term. The canteen will continue to deliver lunches to classes throughout Term 4. Below is a photo of our happy Thursday canteen team.
