Dear Families
I would like to extend my appreciation and gratitude to the whole school community for the wonderful celebration farewell breakfast yesterday morning. I was deeply moved by your kindness. I have loved working alongside our school community as Principal for the past 14 years, teaching in our community for nearly 25 years and 45 years of service to Education. Thank you for the experiences and memories that you have gifted to me and for the wonderful expressions of thanks and best wishes I have received from so many. I wish you all the very best for the future. It has been an absolute honour and a privilege to have worked with our fantastic students, staff, parents and the most amazing community. I am forever grateful.
I am pleased to announce that Mr Tobin McColl has been appointed as Acting Principal until the end of the year. Mr McColl has previously been Acting Principal at Clarence High School. Mr McColl’s appointment will commence on Monday 24 July.
This term we say farewell to some of our wonderful staff. Sadly, we will be saying goodbye to Miss Madeline Rizzolo and our School Psychologist Miss Rachelle Dolzan who will be transferring to another school. On behalf of staff, students and parents I would like to wish them every success and thank them for their contribution and commitment to Herdsmans Cove Primary.
It feels so surreal to be writing my last newsletter but it’s over and out from me.
Carolyn Brown, Principal
This morning the whole school came together to have a special assembly for Mrs Brown. The assembly started with the whole school singing "We Are Australian", followed by a presentation to a student in each class for Naidoc Week.
A highlight of the assembly was when Khyden sang "Hall of Fame", sharing the microphone with Mrs Brown.
Next, came time to present our "World's Best Principal" award from every class to Mrs Brown. Mrs Brown got special awards from every class sharing their own special memories.
In closing, Mrs Brown's years at Herdsmans Cove was celebrated with a beautiful Powerpoint of photographs and special memories shared by past staff. There wasn't a dry eye in the GP Room. It was such a fantastic send-off for Mrs Brown. Special thank you to Mrs Mckenzie for putting the powerpoint together.
We sure are going to miss you Mrs Brown!
Farewell Breakfast for Mrs Brown
Yesterday morning the school community came together to celebrate Mrs Brown our Principal, leader, mentor and friend. It was wonderful to see so many students and their families come along for breakfast and reminisce on the years Mrs Brown has spent at Herdsmans Cove.
This newsletter we a celebrating our wonderful Principal, Mrs Brown.
Our grade 1/2 class took time out last week to write a special individual card to Mrs Brown, and although we can't share all the beautifully designed cards, we can share the special notes contained inside.
When Mrs Brown retires she will:
"go on an airplane"
"watch a movie"
"go to the unicorn farm"
"go on a plane to Mexico"
"go on a vacation"
"relax in her backyard"
"buy a new car"
"go to Hawaii"
"sit on her couch"
"go to the beach"
"go to a pool, she will have so much time there"
"she will cry"
Sadly we say farewell to Miss Rizzolo, our fabulous Grade 1/2 teacher at the end of this term. Miss Rizzolo has been an incredibly valued member of our school and we will miss her knowledge and skills as a fantastic educator. Our students have many happy memories of spending time in Miss Rizzolo's class and she is highly regarded by everyone.
We wish Miss Rizzolo all the very best for her future.
Our Prep/1 class had an exciting visit to Bunnings on Friday 23 June. We loved having a behind the scenes look at the store and had a great time making a tool box.
In Kinder this term we have been busy learning about superheroes! We talked about what superheroes are and what they can do. We used our creativity and problem-solving skills to construct devices that could help a superhero to fly. We also built some super vehicles using Lego that could help our superheroes save the city and defeat the villains. This week we finished off our learning by having a superhero dress up day - have a look at our fantastic little superheroes!
A reminder to all our Children's University students and their families that during the holidays students can visit www.utas.edu.au/underwood-centre/childrens-university-tas and click on the Children's University Tasmania tab, scrolling down to Sample our Learning Destinations and Onlline Activities.
Cooper has been working on a couple of projects at home and achieved stamps in his passport for his amazing work. Well done Cooper!
Our grade 6 leaving students have recently received their high school intention forms for 2024. Please complete the paperwork and return the form to your chosen high school as soon as possible, thank you.
