Dear Families,
Last week classes across the school participated in the National Simultaneous Storytelling event. Each year a picture book, written and illustrated by an Australian author and illustrator, is read simultaneously in schools, libraries and childcare centres around the country. This year’s book was the “The Speedy Sloth” written by Rebecca Young. Prep/1 and 2/3 had a wonderful time attending the event at Bridgewater Library. The idea behind the event is to promote the joy of reading, a love of books and to ignite our imaginations.
Speaking of all things books. 19 deserving students from across the school attended a positive behaviour rewards excursion to the Theatre Royal today, to view a production based on the Mem Fox book, “Wilfrid Gordon McDonald Partridge”. Congratulations to the following students who attended for consistently demonstrating and upholding our school values:
P/1 – Patrick, Harper, Ani
1/2 – Ruby, Peyton, Kai
2/3 – Kyden, Bella, Kade, Shayla
3/4 – Jack, Scarlett, Ruby
5/6L – Mary-Anne, Victoria, Ellena
5/6W – Jett, Zahley, Zilah
Congratulations to our students who have been selected to participate in the Inter School Cross Country Carnival next Wednesday 7 June at Bayview Secondary College. Letters will be sent home tomorrow to our team members. We look forward to hearing about their achievements at this event.
Learning Conversations will be held on Monday 26 June to Thursday 29 June from 3:00 to 4:45 on these days. Teachers are looking forward to sharing examples of student work, discussing their progress. Student reports will also be provided at the interviews. Please contact the office to book a time to meet with your child’s teacher.
We greatly appreciate the support we receive from our wonderful parents in ensuring students wear our school uniform. Just lately we have noticed a few non uniform items creeping in particularly in this cold weather. We understand how difficult it can be to dry clothes in the cold weather, if your child’s unform is in the wash please ensure your child is dressed in school colours. We have an increasing number of items in our lost property basket, if your child has misplaced their uniform please feel free to pop into the office and have a look in the basket.
Our swimming and water safety program will commence on Monday 29 June and run through to the end of term. Permission notices will be sent home in the next week for students in grade 3 to 5.

Theatre Royal Excursion - Thursday 1 June
As mentioned in Mrs Brown's Principal's address, a group of well-deserving students went to the Theatre Royal today with Mrs Roberts, Mrs Clark and Ms Tulloch to see a production called "Wilfrid Gordon McDonald Partridge". It was lovely to see our happy students, excitedly leaving the school this morning. Here is a selection of photos taken today.
Children's University has started for the year. We had a visit from Shaun the Children's University representative on Thursday last week, who ran a puzzle session. A big thank you to Shaun for donating three world map games to our school that our students had so much fun playing.
Keep your eye out for upcoming Children's University sessions over the coming weeks.
