At Herdsmans Cove Primary we work hard to foster and provide a wide range of activities to promote family and student engagement.
Following our last newsletter, thirty-two of our fantastic students participated in the Southern Primary Schools Athletics Carnival. I would like to thank Mr Milne, Ms Hedge, Mrs McKenzie and our wonderful parents for assisting and supporting our students to attend the event. Your efforts are greatly appreciated. I would also like to congratulate our students on their exemplary behaviour whilst at the carnival. The wonderful behaviour of these students reflects on the school in a positive manner. Well done team Herdy!
We are looking forward to seeing our wonderful families at our K- 2 Easter Assembly and Fun Carnival next Wednesday 31 March at 11:20. Following the Easter Assembly children will have the opportunity to participate in a range of sporting activities on the oval. It will be great to have the opportunity to share some musical items from each of the classes and see all our children and teachers participating and having fun together. With Covid restrictions still in place, parents are kindly asked to remain in the spectator area and not to approach students. A big thank you and congratulations to Miss Field and Mr Milne for organising and co-ordinating this event.
We thank all of our parents and carers who took up the opportunity to participate in Learning Plan conversations this week to set goals for their children and to further develop the valuable partnership between home and school.
The last day of term for students will be next Wednesday 31 March as Thursday 1 April, is a Professional Learning day. All teachers will be involved in moderating student work against the Australian Curriculum.

Grade 1/2B have been exploring Science and History through their work on “Things That Go!”. In such a short term, the class have worked very hard. Here are some models of old and new bikes. Did you know that the very first bikes didn’t have brakes?
Here is our art work on vehicles that help us build. How many cement mixers can you spot?
We worked in teams to experiment and measure how far different balls pushed a car. We created our very own pull back cars. Watch Bella’s car go!
Southern Primary Schools Division F Athletics Carnival
On Wednesday the 17th, 32 students represented Herdsmans Cove primary school at the southern schools inter primary athletics carnival. The students participated and represented the school wonderfully with many outstanding individual and team results. From our grade 6 girls winning the 4x100m relay to Ethan (grade 3) stepping up and running the grade 5 800m as we had no one else, we couldn’t be prouder as a school and community. Well done to everyone on your amazing fourth place result!!!
Kind Regards, James Milne
Selected students from Miss Lovell's 5/6 class together with Mr Chris Dand made a special lunch for the class to share to celebrate Harmony Day.
March 21 is Australia's Harmony Day, which celebrates the country's cultural diversity. Well done 5/6L.
Just a reminder to please complete your canteen order on a brown paper bag with money enclosed inside and top of lunch bag folded over. An example is provided below. Thank you.
