Welcome Back to Term 4!
Welcome back to what promises to be an exciting Term 4 at Herdsmans Cove Primary School! It’s hard to believe how quickly the year has flown by — it feels like only yesterday we were welcoming students back in Term 1, and now we’re heading into the final stretch of 2025.
Celebrating Student Success
A huge congratulations to Jett Harris, Kyden Emery, and Shayla Stevens, who recently travelled to Brisbane to represent Tasmania in the Schools Futsal Championships. What an incredible opportunity and achievement! We are especially proud to share that Shayla has now been selected to represent Australia in China — an amazing accomplishment and a testament to her dedication and talent. Well done, Shayla!
Exciting Developments Around the School
Term 4 is always a busy one, and this year is no exception. We’re thrilled to announce that the 24C Garden Area at the front of the school will be undergoing a major redevelopment this term. Alongside this, our new playground will also be installed — a fantastic addition for our students to enjoy.
Please note that these works will cause some temporary disruptions to the front of the school and the carpark. To help ease congestion, staff will be using the netball court for parking during this period. We appreciate your patience and understanding as we work to improve our school environment.
Bike Track Update
Unfortunately, due to wet conditions over the holidays, we were unable to begin work on the bike track as planned. However, we’re pleased to let you know that the new start date is scheduled for 10th November. Fingers crossed for some dry weather!
The Herdy Way – Focus for the Fortnight
Our school-wide focus for the next two weeks is:
“First Time, Every Time.”
We’re encouraging all students to follow instructions the first time they are given, helping to create a calm, respectful, and productive learning environment for everyone.
We’re looking forward to a fantastic final term of the year, filled with learning, growth, and celebration. Thank you for your continued support — let’s make these last 9 weeks of 2025 our best yet!
Warm regards,
Tobin McColl
Principal – Herdsmans Cove Primary School
On Wednesday 22 October students from grades 3 - 6 enjoyed participating in this year's splash carnival at the Clarence Pool.
Students took part in a variety of events and overall had a fun day.
Thank you to Miss P and all staff that helped and supported on the day.
Congratulations to everyone for getting in and having a go and doing their best.
We have been fortunate to receive funding from Communities for Children to enable some of our students to attend the Inspire Connections Equine Program in term 4. The program will run for 8 weeks on a Friday.

Tas Bike Collective will be working with our students onsite at school during Term 4. Students will participate in this program each Monday for 8 weeks.
This engaging program offers students the opportunity to work alongside staff from the Tas Bike Collective and our own school team to fix, maintain, and build bikes using real tools. It’s a hands-on experience that promotes mentoring, teamwork, and practical skills development.
The Tas Bike Collective is already partnering with nine other schools across southern Tasmania, with proven success in supporting student engagement and wellbeing through bike-based learning.
We’re thrilled to welcome them to our school and look forward to the positive impact this program will have on our students.

The hot lunch program here at Herdsmans Cove has been a huge success. Every Tuesday and Wednesday students enjoy a lunch prepared and served by our own wonderful Linda G.
Thankyou Linda for your consistent time and effort that you put in to ensuring all students have the opportunity to sit down to a healthy and hot meal.
In term 4 all students are required to wear a hat outside. Hats should be either a navy wide brimmed or bucket hat.
Strictly no caps are allowed as they do not provide adequate sun protection.
If students do not have a hat they will be asked to stay in shaded areas of the playground.
Hats are available to purchase at the office for $10.
