Dear Families and Community,
We are now well into Term 3, and it’s incredible to see our school priorities coming to life across classrooms, corridors, and the playground. Every day, students are visiting me with proud smiles, eager to read aloud and demonstrate their growing skills. Their confidence and enthusiasm are a testament to the hard work of our staff and the support of our families.
Celebrating Connection and Belonging
Yesterday’s 5/6R pizza afternoon was a fantastic example of the strong partnerships we continue to build with families. The turnout was amazing, and the joy on students’ faces was unmistakable. Events like these remind us how important connection and belonging are to learning. When students feel safe, valued, and supported, they thrive—and so does our whole school community.
Building Works Update
We’ve made some exciting improvements to our learning spaces this term:
- New carpet has been installed in 1/2H and 3/4A.
- Fresh paint now brightens our main corridor, 3/4P, and the staff room.
- Library upgrade: Later this term, we’ll be updating our library to include a new teacher resource room—a collaborative space for staff to plan and enhance student learning.
- Kitchen Garden connection: We’re adding a door from the Kitchen Garden room to the main courtyard, creating a welcoming space for families to join us for shared meals and community events.
- New fencing and storage: We’re about to purchase an additional shipping container to store bikes and safety equipment. This will sit between our kinder/prep building and our main building. We will also add some new secure fencing either side.
Coming Soon: Our Bike Track!
We’re thrilled to announce that construction will begin later this term on a bike track at the back of our oval. Learning to ride safely and maintain a bike are valuable life skills, and we’re excited to welcome The Bike Kitchen to provide onsite training for our students.
We hope to make the bike track available outside of school hours. To help us keep it safe and enjoyable for everyone, we ask our community to look after the space and let us know if it’s not being treated with care.
Thank you for your continued support and involvement. Together, we’re creating a school where every child feels connected, capable, and celebrated.
Warm regards
Tobin McColl
Principal
On Monday 4th August selected students were fortunate enough to attend a rewards excursion. This excursion was to watch Circus Quirkus at the Federation Concert Hall and then enjoy a play at Legacy Park.

This term we have introduced Parents and Pizzas. We are inviting families to these pizza afternoons to strengthen the connections between school and the community.
On Thursday 31st July we held our first parents and pizza afternoon for 5/6 Dowling. It was wonderful to see parents, carers and siblings making and eating their own pizzas.

On Thursday 14th August it was lovely to have the families of 5/6 Rossiter enjoy a sunny afternoon eating freshly cooked pizzas.

On Tuesday 5 August Grade 6 students attended an excursion to Botanical to participate in the 24 Carrot Workshop.
Students engaged in hands on activities using their imagination and creativity skills.

In Children's University our students made yummy pancakes from scratch. Cooking is a very important life skill to learn.

In the garden this term we’ve been continuing our worm investigations. Finding out that worms eat half their body weight every day led to a fun activity where students chose to be a worm for the day. Students halved their weight and then weighed how much food they would eat if they were a giant worm.
Food was bought that could be eaten fresh and also used in our recipes for this term. We also cut some of the fruit and vegetables in half to do some fun painting/printing too.
In the kitchen students have been cooking up some tasty meals, utilising our cauliflowers and other produce from the garden.

The book fair will be held in the classroom next to 1/2 N.
