A Wonderful Start to the Term!
We’ve had a fantastic beginning to the term, and it’s been heartwarming to see our students return with such enthusiasm and pride in their school. A special shout-out to everyone wearing their school uniform—what a great way to show school spirit! Just a reminder that our new crew neck jumpers are now available at the uniform shop for those needing a refresh.
Playtime Positivity
Recess and lunch have been buzzing with energy and joy. Students are engaging in active, kind, and inclusive play across the school grounds. Soccer games, supervised by staff, have been a hit, and our new footy posts are getting plenty of use. The sandpit continues to be a favourite spot, with many students enjoying creative and cooperative play.
Breakfast Club Success
Our Breakfast Club has been a huge success this term! Students are invited to join us in the Kitchen/Garden room on Monday and Wednesday mornings for a delicious start to the day. Toasties, Milo, toast, and cereal are on offer—and parents are warmly welcome to come along and enjoy breakfast too.
Celebrating Learning Achievements
We’re thrilled to share that student learning has been progressing beautifully, especially in reading. A big congratulations to all our students for their hard work, and a heartfelt thank you to parents for your continued support at home. Together, we’re making a real difference.
I’m going to sign off by saying “In Term 3, Herdies is the place to be”
Kind regards
Cath Burgess
Assistant Principal
At the end of last term students made their own edible bouquets to take home, from what they grew in the garden. With each bouquet we added photos of the students work and how to cook/eat the produce.

What a fantastic way to wrap up term 2 with a colour run. It was wonderful to see the students, staff and parents having such a great time.
A heartfelt thank you to everyone who joined in and helped make the afternoon so special. It was heartwarming to see the smiles on the faces of students, staff and families. Moments like these really highlight the strength of our little community.
A special thankyou to Mr Mills for organising the day from setting up the cones to ensuring everything ran smoothly.
Thank you also to Steve and Kelly for cooking the sausages and to Tarn and Michael for lending a hand and being part of the team effort.

In Prep we have been counting how many days we have been at school learning for. On the 29th July it was our 100th day of school. To celebrate our 100th day of learning students were invited to dress up like they were 100 years old.

Boat safety sessions were delivered by MAST in Week 1. These sessions were a great addition to knowledge and skills gained in the SWSP at the end of term 2.

We’re excited to be participating in the Premier’s Reading Challenge! It’s a fantastic way for students to continue developing their love for reading. The aim is to read 10 books, but of course, students are welcome to read even more! For those tackling longer chapter books, a few chapters can count as one book.
Students in Prep-Grade 6 will be participating in the Tasmanian Premier’s Reading Challenge until August 24th. The students can read at home and at school and fill in the reading log. Once their reading log is full, they can drop it in the ECE (Prep-Grade 2) box or the Primary (Grade 3-6) box at the office to go in the draw for 1 of 5 weekly prizes. Students can pick up new reading logbooks from the office.
Happy reading!
