Principal's Message
Dear Families
It’s hard to believe that it is the last week of term as term 3 seems to have flashed before our eyes.
We were exceptionally proud to hear of the achievements of the BGH Breakers who recently played in their first netball Grand Final and came away with the winners trophy.
In term 4 I will be taking leave for the first 5 weeks of term and whilst I am on leave in Term 4, Mrs Rachel Kitto will be Acting Principal. Mrs Anne Douglas, former Principal of Austins Ferry Primary School will be coming in 3 days a week (Monday, Tuesday and Friday) during this time to work with Mrs Kitto to increase staffing levels. We welcome Mrs Douglas to our school and thank her for her support.
The Australian Education Union (AEU) has directed its members to participate in a two hour stop work action this Wednesday 28 September from 8.30am to 10.30am.
As a result, it has been determined that all schools will be temporarily closed for educational instruction until after 10.30am on 28 September 2022. With a number of staff participating in the stop work action, the school will be unable to provide adequate duty of care for students and therefore we ask families to arrange to have students arrive at school at 10.30am.
We understand this will be an inconvenience for some families; it is regrettable that school closure action is necessary, however, we must be able to ensure adequate safety and supervision of students
As mentioned in our last newsletter our school will undergo the School Review process in Week 5 of Term 4 (November 14 and 15). The reviewers will speak with staff, students, parents and the community. An article explaining the review process and a return to school notice if you do NOT wish your child to be interviewed by External School Review panel will be sent out with today's newsletter. Also coming home with this newsletter is our Year 3 and 5 student Naplan results.
Our first week back of Term 4 will be very busy as we will be holding our Swimming Splash Carnival on Wednesday 19 October for students in Grade 3 to 6, with Thursday 20 October being a public holiday for Show Day and Friday 21 October being a Student Free Day and a Professional Learning Day for teachers.
Have a safe and happy holiday!
Carolyn Brown, Principal
