Principal's Message

Dear Families,

Next week Learning Conversations will be held on Monday 27 June to Thursday 30 June from 3:00 to 4:45. If you haven’t already booked there are still spaces available.   Please contact the office to book a time to meet with or receive a phone call from your child’s teacher.

Please note that you will receive a copy of your child’s report during your Learning Conversation meeting. If you are unable to attend, reports will be sent home next Friday. It is important that you arrange to meet with your child’s teacher as reports will look very different to previous years, with a rating system only and no comments. The new reports show how your child is achieving in the Australian Curriculum for their year level with assessment being provided in the mid-year report for the curriculum areas of English, Mathematics, and Science. This year a new 9-point scale and worded descriptor will appear on your child’s report. The 9-point scale replaces A-E ratings for students in Years 1 to 10 (and for Prep students at the end of the year). The 9-point scale shows more specifically where your child’s learning achievement is against the expected standard for their year level. The 9-point scale and worded descriptor assessment shows progress using the Australian Curriculum achievement standard established for children in every state and territory of Australia. It does not compare your child’s progress to other children in their class.

From Monday 27 June, masks are no longer mandatorily required to be worn in Government schools. However, from time to time there may be circumstances where masks will be required as per public health advice. Close contacts however will still be required to wear them, and masks will be available on site for those staff, students and visitors who choose to wear them. Thank you to everyone who has followed Government directives regarding COVID in school settings during this very busy year. Your patience and co-operation have been welcomed and appreciated.

We are excitedly preparing for a return of our assemblies next term.  A family member of award recipients will be invited to attend, and we are looking forward to welcoming our community back into the school.
