Herdy Way
The Herdy Way
Our Herdy Way focus for weeks 7 and 8 is Choose better, not bigger! Students have been working on conflict resolution and strategies to empower them to navigate conflict. Students have been meeting with their buddy class to develop ideas on how to keep their problems small and what they can do if they have a problem. Lessons are revolving around the importance of ‘I’ messages, not being a messenger and playground scenarios with role playing on how to respond to different issues. When do I need help? When can I solve a problem on my own?
“Do the 5” is a common tool used in our school community:
- Talk Friendly
- Walk away
- Ignore
- Talk firmly – NO
- Report – to an adult
Talking to your child and reminding them about “Do the 5” and to go to an adult for help will consolidate our Herdy way focus.
