Swimming Splash Carnival - Wednesday 20 October
Hello to our amazing community,
Last Wednesday we held our SPLASH carnival for grades 3-6. The weather gods were smiling upon us with clear skies and sunshine starting off our day. We kicked off our carnival with the 25m freestyle, participation was at an all time high with seas of blue, red and green cheering from the grand stands. Throughout the day we saw many highlights including a flying archer, a wet and soggy duck and what I like to term the swimming brick. However, all of the events were a lot of fun. We finished our carnival with the house and staff relay. What was clear to us is that Miss Lovell and Mr Vandermey, or as we call them the swim twins, should be proud to have won the event by the length of the river Nile (also noted was that Blue’s effort was hindered when Khynan swam circles in a straight laned pool).
After the swimming was done our students enjoyed a well deserved play, with many opting for the death defying water slide. I can honestly say I have never seen so many students hit flat water at such pace. Thank goodness there was still some water left after they were finished with it. Then it was time to sound out our champions for the day. In a massive turn of events Green, our athletics and cross country champions came in third on 191 points, in second was Red on 211 points and our amazing winners the Blue house took out our carnival on 231 points.
We would like to thank the awesome staff that attended and helped out on the day as well as the Glenorchy Pool and their staff for taking care of us all day. Congratulations also goes to the following students for being crowned our swimming champions:
Grade 3 Champions: Hannah and Naite
Grade 4 Champions: Harper and Kaidyn
Grade 5 champions: Jaylah, Zavier and Khynan
Grade 6 champions: Ruby and Bailey W
